In the year 987 a village called Giebichenstein was mentioned for the first time. "Giebich" means "the giver". The former official village and the old town of Halle were separated by large areas of arable land. As a result, many residents of Giebichenstein worked in agriculture, quarrying and salt production.
Due to numerous finds and burial sites it was assumed that 2000 BC. people have lived here. This was also confirmed by an urn found during the construction of the community center in 1925-1927.
From the Romanesque predecessor of today's church, the west cross tower is preserved, which was built around 1200. The cross-shaped central building made of quarry stone masonry was built in 1740-1742.
