In the middle of the Seulingswald you can still visit the foundations of a church that, like the small hamlet that belongs to it, was probably already abandoned in the 13th century. This place has been forgotten for a long time and only exists as a legend in people's memories. Only in 1969 was it rediscovered by an excavation. About 200 meters away from the ruins of the church, there is an ancient pedunculate oak where the village well used to be.
Hammundeseiche (also called Hoheneiche) is a deserted village. It is located at 440 m above sea level, between Friedewald and Wildeck-Hönebach in the Seulingswald in the north-east of Hesse. The foundations of a church were uncovered, next to a spring well and about 100 m away is the Hammundeseiche.
