The city of Steckborn was first documented in the 9th century, but it was already inhabited in Roman times. With its historic buildings, it nestles on the southern side of Lake Constance close to the water and is a particularly beautiful eye-catcher for amateur photographers.
Steckborn is located on the southern shore of the Untersees, on the slope of the Seerückens and on the deltas of two ravines. On the other side of the here only 1 to 2 kilometers wide submarine lies the German community Gaienhofen.
