Yanevo was a former patrimony of the Suzdal bishop's house, which was granted in the first half of the 16th century by Grand Duke Vasily Ivanovich. The charter of this prince burned down around 1576, so Varlaam, Bishop of Suzdal, asked Grand Duke Ivan Vasilyevich to issue a confirmation charter for the right to own Yanevo and other villages of the Suzdal and Vladimir districts, which was granted on February 3, 1578.
Nothing is known about the time of the foundation of the church in the village, but it is certain that it existed in the 16th century, since Yanevo is called a village in the document cited. The existing church was built in 1781 through the efforts of parishioners, and a warm church was built next to it in 1844.
