Rarely does a memorial so much hit the heart of the thing it's supposed to show, like here: a fisherman who is just ejecting his net. Since the founding of the coastal villages here at the lake there was only one livelihood and that was the fishing. Okay, today it's tourism, but fishing has dominated life here for centuries.

There is a bar-cafe-restaurant about 100m away, from where you can look at the monument or the Baltic Sea depending on your seat.

Nice monument to remember and respect the fishing profession. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the access to the pier in Haffkrug.
