I agree, I hiked the entire beach from Knysna and back into the Goukamma Nature Reserve between Buffels Bay and Sedgefield -- that place was hard to leave. I recommend to check out the lake and also follow the Goukamma river for a little bit upstream 🌊
Even though it was more than four years since I was there: I always like to look at the photos to remember! Especially when gray is gray in this country ... We had fantastic weather in Knysna / Wilderness and the beaches to ourselves. I have never found it so beautiful somewhere by the sea.
The path begins in front of the gate to the bush camp. It is a narrow path over the bushy dunes, up and down, at times the narrow path led us through densely forested areas. When we reached the bottom of the sea we had to climb over rocks because it was high tide and the beach was not completely passable. The hike took 6 hours until we were back at the car (starting point). It was a strenuous hike, but overall recommended if you are in good shape (my husband and I are 68 and 74 years old)
