One of Amasya’s iconic structures and most photographed historical treasures, the Amasya Clock Tower has graced the city since 1865. Built by order of Ziya Pasha, the governor of Amasya, the tower combines classical Anatolian, Turkish and Islamic architectural features. Situated on the banks of the Yeşilırmak River, among historic mansions, the tower offers an enchanting view. Especially at night, when it is illuminated, it makes for a beautiful photo opportunity together with the rock tombs on the mountainside behind it. The Amasya Clock Tower is one of the first historical structures you must see in the city.
