A church on the site of the village of Novospasskoye existed in ancient times, but by the beginning of the 17th century it had become deserted for some reason, and in the patriarchal tax books of the 17th century the Spasskaya empty church land is listed. In 1671 the land was given to Grigory Lopukhin as an estate, and in 1719 the owner of the wasteland Ivan Lopukhin ceded it to the brothers Alexander and Mikhail Saltykov to build a church here.
In 1822-1835 the existing stone church in the classical style was built instead of the wooden church.
