A truly impressive bridge, a steel structure, sturdy since time immemorial, spans nine pairs of tracks and offers a beautiful view of the stationary S-Bahn trains, diesel and electric locomotives, parked freight cars, and also the passing trains, from regional to intercity.

But a little time for reflection is definitely needed; simply cycling over it and being annoyed that there are no more highlights is definitely the worst option. Here is a highlight; you just have to see it and take it in your mind.

Laska Bridge - Offenbach a.M. 🚴‍

The Laska Bridge, with its distinctive steel truss structure, dates back to 1915. It crosses the railway line between Lämmerspieler Weg and Mühlheimer Straße in Offenbach. The bridge became necessary after the city of Offenbach was connected to the Frankfurt-Bebra railway line. This line, of course, existed much earlier; the first locomotives and wagons rolled on it as early as 1873. The bridge structure, dating from 1915, consists of two arched elements with a span of approximately 50 meters. The steel girders are held together by countless rivets. These give these bridges, such as the Eiserner Steg in Frankfurt, their highly characteristic appearance. The more than 100-year-old structure has been dilapidated for some time and is no longer permitted for trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons.
The comparatively narrow rail crossing is named after the Offenbach chemist August Leopold Laska, who invented new dyes at the K. Oehler aniline and aniline dye factory. 🚴‍♂️
