Water Tower (1905) - Straßenheim 🚴♂️
Straßenheim is located on the northeastern city limits of Mannheim along a single thoroughfare, the Ortsstraße. It borders Viernheim in Hesse to the north, Heddesheim to the east, and the Mannheim districts of Vogelstang and Wallstadt to the west. The Viernheim Interchange with the Autobahns A6 and A659 is only about 1.6 kilometers away. Straßenheim was first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex in 903 as Strazheim. The place name goes back to its location on the old Roman road Mainz–Worms–Ladenburg–Neuenheim. 🚴♂️
The water tower in Mannheim-Straßenheim is part of the city's skyline and the district's proud landmark. The tower was built in 1905 and put into operation in 1907. At that time, it supplied the entire city of Straßenheim with the necessary water pressure. A flag on top of the water tower indicates the year of its construction. With the incorporation of Straßenheim in 1930, the tower was taken out of service.
Unfortunately, no further information or data on the tower are available... 🚴♂️
