Built in 1925, the observation tower on the Eselsberg is about 18 m high. The hut of the Swabian Albverein is farmed on Sundays and public holidays and the wood-clad lookout tower can be climbed for 50 cents. From the top you have a 360 degree panoramic view of the Löwensteiner mountains, the Swabian Alb and the Black Forest. On the almost 400 m high mountain was once a castle, which was first mentioned in 1188 as Dienstmannsitz the Counts of Vaihingen. Today only the moat bears witness to the former castle.
