Sandstone is a naturally occurring building material that doesn't require energy-intensive production processes, is durable, and recyclable. It's not only a highly ecologically sustainable choice, but when mined locally, it also offers positive working conditions. Sandstone has been mined in the Baumberge region for 1,000 years – you can delve deeper into the history and culture surrounding the "Marble of Münsterland" at this listed, former farm.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A very special highlight in the Münsterland in the village of Havixbeck is the Baumberger Sandstone Museum.
It offers a large permanent exhibition in the house and in the spacious gardens.
An in-house cafe offers drinks, snacks, soups and cakes.
A special highlight are the diverse cultural events in the cafe, in the attic of the house and of course in the sunny garden park.
Browse the Sandstein Museum's website, here you will find everything you need to know about events, opening times and the sponsoring association.
