It is not a given that the next generation but one takes over a traditional company and wants to lead it into a successful future with great commitment. In the case of one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Thuringian Rhön, this has been successful: From 2016, the “Thuringian Rhönhaus” restaurant will be run by Stefanie and Jenny Lümpert. They officially took over the management from their grandparents Erika and Hartmut Lümpert.

The grandparents of the two young women acquired the “Thuringian Rhönhaus” 26 years ago and have since revived it as a nature-oriented and tradition-conscious inn. Due to the excellent location on the Elbow, day-trippers, hikers, cyclists and cross-country skiers in particular use the restaurant as a stop, for relaxation and overnight stays. In the future, the two sisters would like to promote natural recreation for families through generation-friendly offers.

The area around today's Thuringian Rhönhaus has already undergone many changes: from the 1920s a youth hostel, later one after the other camps of the Reich Labor Service, the FDJ and the GDR border police. Buildings appeared and disappeared again. How nice that today there is a restaurant and a house for celebrations in a peaceful landscape.
