The village of Selivanova Gora has been known since the 15th century, when it was mentioned in the charter of Grand Duke Vasily II as one of the villages of the Kirzhach Annunciation Monastery. In 1653, the first wooden church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built here. In 1778, the village of Selivanova Gora, together with the former monastery settlement, was transformed into the city of Kirzhach. The current Nikolskaya Church was built of brick in 1764 with funds from the Moscow merchant Tit Petrov and parishioners.
