The Westfield River can be forded, but be aware of recent rainfall and prepare to get wet! Depending on how tall you are, the water may come up above your waist or to your chest.
If you don't want to ford the river you can use a rideshare service to get across—it is only three extra miles by road, but Springfield Road is busy and has sections with no shoulder so a road walk is not recommended.
