The market square in Arendsee is a central meeting place in the town. It is home to the historic town hall, a charming building that serves as the mayor's office. The market square is not only architecturally significant but also a social hub. The popular weekly market takes place here every week, which is appreciated by both locals and visitors.

Arendsee's market square has undergone several changes over the years. In 1960, it was redesigned, and the old war memorial was removed. A significant event was the felling of the seven old linden trees in 1998, which were originally planted in 1878 and replaced with new ones. The same year, in December, the renovated market square was officially inaugurated as part of a public festival.
