A very interesting article about two halls on Wikipedia:

The complex at Mirowski Square was the first complex of market halls built in Warsaw at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries[1]. The halls allowed, among other things, for better organization of trade and improved hygienic conditions of sale by moving it from open space to closed rooms[2].

The Mirowskie Halls were built in the years 1899–1902 on the site of part of the demolished Mirowskie Barracks, for which the cornerstone was laid on October 15, 1899. Their name, taken from the name of the barracks, comes from the surname of Wilhelm Mier[5]. The designers of the halls were: Bolesław Miłkowski (structure), Ludwik Panczakiewicz (elevations) and Apoloniusz Nieniewski[6] and Władysław Kozłowski (architectural setting)[6]. These were two buildings 95.4 m long and 42.8 m wide. The metal structures of the halls were made by the Warsaw company K. Rudzki i S-ka. Zinc cartouches with the Warsaw Mermaid were placed above the entrances[8]. The cost of building the halls was 1.4 million rubles.

The Western Hall (Mirowska) is one of two twin market halls in Warsaw, located at Plac Mirowski 1. After being rebuilt according to the design of Zbigniew Pawlak, it has been used for commercial purposes again since November 1962. In the 1960s, a modernist superstructure was added to the western façade, which increased the commercial area. Since 1974, the hall has been used by "Społem" WSS Śródmieście, which took over the building and the adjacent area in 1997. In the 1950s, a Tchorek plaque was placed on the western wall of the hall, commemorating the massacre of civilians in August 1944. In 2011, the hall underwent renovation, during which the bullet holes and other war damage, which are still visible on the façade, were preserved.

Hale Mirowskie, consisting of a western hall and an eastern hall, are located in Warsaw's Mirów district, at Plac Mirowski 1 and Żelazna Bramy 1.
