The memorial was opened in 1974 on the site of a mass grave. Authors: Voronezh sculptor O.P.Tolmachev and architect I.A.Petin. The bas-reliefs were molded by sculptor I.F. Chernenko. The figures of two Red Army soldiers with grenades and a rifle in their hands symbolize those who died during the civil war. A 15-meter-high pylon was installed nearby. It is crowned with a star, and in the middle part there is a date - 1921 - the year of the last victims. At the bottom of the pylon there is a half-wreath of laurel and the inscription "To the fighters for the power of the Soviets." In the right part of the composition there is a frieze recreating episodes of the battles during the civil war. On the left side of the monument the fire of eternal glory burns.
