The current "Slana Banja" memorial complex was originally built at the behest of academic painter Ismet Mujezinović as a memorial to all the known and unknown heroes of the revolution who gave their lives in the long, four-year struggle for the liberation of both Tuzla and Yugoslavia. Until the 1990s, the complex was known among Tuzla residents as the "Avenue" and the "Partisan Cemetery."
The fighters of the last defensive war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995 also found their eternal home here.
