Miliário da Mitra (Valverde) is a Roman milestone along an old Roman military road which connected Evora (Ebora Liberalitas) to Alcácer do Sal (Salacia) which was probably part of the main Roman route from Lisbon (Olisipo) to Mérida (Augusta Emerita).
It is 1.3 metres high and probably dates from the 2nd or 3rd centuries AD. It is easily reached along an earth lane from Valverde en route to the Zambujeiro dolmen if you take the first turn left after crossing the bridge on leaving Valverde. The milestone is on the left some way up this lane.
