The Miguelturra Cemetery, like many others, is shrouded in local stories and legends. One of the most interesting is the legend of the gold of Miguelturra. According to this legend, it is believed that in the caves and underground mines of the area, especially in the Vizcayo mine, there are great treasures and deposits of precious minerals such as gold and silver.
This story became popular in 1922 when Guillermo Cabrera, a notary, published an article claiming that he had found documentary evidence of the existence of these mines. Although his claims were met with skepticism and ridicule, the legend has endured in the collective memory of the inhabitants of Miguelturra.
