Old buildings arranged around the 18th century granite fountain give this square a medieval feel. To the south is the Palácio dos Pitas (15th century), a Gothic building whose façade features a coat of arms and elegant conical windows. To the north, the Clock Tower is a remnant of the old fortifications (14th century).
