The Iglesia de Santa María in Rabé de las Calzadas is a beautiful parish church with a rich history. The church was built on the site of an old church that was demolished in 1877. The new church was built with deep foundations and stones to prevent it from collapsing. The oldest parts of the church are the Gothic portal from the 13th century, with an ojival arch decorated with a sierra-like decoration.
The church is also known for the presence of the Comunidad de Hijas de la Caridad, a religious community that has been active in Rabé de las Calzadas since 1889. They provide support to pilgrims and the local community.
