On May 30, 2015, the pond got a brand new duck house. In front of about 150 spectators, helpers from the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief left the seven-square-meter building to water with a crane. The Lebenshilfe facility on Porschestraße was awarded the contract to build the house by the Facebook group "Helmstedt und mehr", which volunteers for an attractive cityscape. The impetus for this resulted from childhood memories of many Helmstedters who still know the old, now rotten duck house from the 1960s.

The St. Ludgeri pond is a pond in the district town of Helmstedt. It is located on the Beendorfer Straße, is owned by the city of Helmstedt and is leased by the Helmstedter fishing club, which also maintains it.
