Greek Catholic wooden church of the Ascension, 1775
The wooden Greek Catholic church in Šmigovec was built on a slope in the middle of the cemetery in 1755. It was dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord. It was repaired in 1894 and 1936. Today, the temple is essentially dilapidated, and repair of the exterior is probably out of the question. The current state of the building was due to the plating of the roof and tower, as well as plastering in the 1950s.
In the framework of the project "Renovation of wooden temples, improvement of the infrastructure of the Cycling Path of Icons", at the beginning of 2016, the replacement of the shingle covering of the tower, restoration of the roof coatings, repair of the external cladding of the temple, internal plastering and floors, new electrical wiring and signaling equipment were carried out at the beginning of 2016.
Currently, the temple no longer serves liturgical purposes.
