The massive spill way gates regulate the level of Carlyle Lake and the flow down the Kaskaskia River. This picture is from the bike trail on the East side of the river. You can also ride across the top of the dam as well. A very pretty area however it is very popular with families so watch out for kids running out onto the path. A campground is located on the right side of the trail.
