.... The denominational school was a thing of the past. The Ursuline School closed its doors in the summer of 1948 and when it reopened, its rooms were filled with German boys and girls from a new type of general school, a seven-class elementary school that is still there today. A girls' boarding school moved into the older part of the monastery. In 1952, a German-language pedagogical school for teachers was set up in this part. In 1954, it was converted into a girls' middle school with German as the language of instruction, and the pedagogical section was closed in 1956. From 1958, it became a mixed middle school that also accepted boys, but it ceased to exist in 1962. Meanwhile, the section for kindergarten teachers was created in 1958, and the first year of teachers was set up in the next school year..... From 1960, teachers and kindergarten teachers were trained according to a new system in the "Pedagogical Lyceum". The Dominican monks communicated with each other in Latin. When, after their expulsion, the church and school passed into the hands of the predominantly Protestant city council, which set up a school in the monastery building, the children learned to read and write German.
The types of schools mentioned, up to the current educational institution called "Colegiul national pedagogic Andrei Saguna" with a German-speaking department for kindergarten teachers, are part of a tradition of teaching in German that has spanned over 475 years. .....
