The Röthelmoosalm area is a registered geotope as Röthelmoos.
The Alm is framed by Hochgern and Hochfelln in the north, the Sulzgrabenkopf in the east and the Hörndlwand in the southeast.
The alpine pasture is still used for agriculture, Dandl and Langerbaueralm are served.
The Röthelmoosklause is located at the northern end of the alpine pasture. The Klause is fed by the Röthelmoosbach, which rises in the south and flows through the alpine pastures. At the Klause, the water of the Röthelmoosbach was dammed up in order to drift wood into the valley, which was needed in the Saline in Traunstein as construction and above all as firewood.

The Röthelmoos is a raised bog in the Chiemgau Alps and a recognized nature reserve. Summits like the Hörndlwand or the Gurnwandkopf tower above this beautiful plateau. Through the high moor several cycle paths lead. In the Dandl Alm or in the Langerbauer Alm there is the possibility to take a break. Both pastures are managed from May to the end of October and offer regional specialties.
