The Hofpürglhütte is picturesquely situated in the middle of the Dachstein massif and at the foot of the Great Bishop's Hat. Because of the numerous climbing routes in the surrounding rock walls, hikers, mountaineers and rock climbers meet at the hut. Although the hut is quite large with 29 beds and 71 places in the dormitory, you should reserve your accommodation in advance.
The hut owners, Regina and Heinz, are super nice. The hut itself is very spacious and clean. There are plenty of sleeping spaces and several large, yet cozy dining rooms. The food is excellent. In the evenings, Heinz always cooks special delicacies. The roast pork and Kaiserschmarrn are particularly recommended.
Heinz is a passionate climber, and the climbing garden is accordingly fantastic. Topo maps are available for purchase at the hut. If it should rain, the hut also has a bouldering room.
