Since May 2004, the Marstall has been home to the Bückeburg Riding School, where the art of riding from the European eras of the 11th to 17th centuries is shown and cultivated. Bückeburg Castle is also the venue for a wide variety of festivals and exhibitions, for example the annual “Landpartie” in early summer, the “Christmas Magic” which takes place on the first two Advent weekends of each year in the castle and in the surrounding area and which, according to the castle's own figures, is visited by around 70,000 people every year, and the medieval market “Medieval Fantasy Spectaculum” in July. Vintage car rallies, in which the castle is included as a stop, also attract great interest from the public. For some time now, civil weddings have been possible in the baroque music hall, and the castle chapel can now also be used by wedding couples of various Christian denominations. The ballroom and other rooms can be rented for private events.
In 2011, the completed 1:60 precision model of the castle was installed in the Marble Hall. The rooms of the historic kitchen housed the café-restaurant "Alte Schlossküche", which provided an authentic insight into the former stately large kitchen. It was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened as a bistro in 2022.
The Lower Saxony State Archives Bückeburg is located in the east wing of the castle complex.
The freely accessible castle park has an area of over 80 hectares and surrounds the castle on all sides. You can find some tree species that are rare worldwide, such as Süntel beeches, swamp cypresses or a nearly 25-meter-high sequoia behind the mausoleum.
Every autumn, the International Music Academy's master classes for soloists are held in Bückeburg Castle.
In the city of Obihiro on the island of Hokkaido in Japan, there is a faithful replica of Bückeburg Castle, which was commissioned by a Japanese investor in 1989. It is part of the "Kingdom of Happiness" amusement park, which has since closed. The theme of the complex is based on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and, in addition to Bückeburg Castle, also includes numerous other German sights, such as a copy of the Bremen Town Musicians or the Brothers Grimm monument in Hanau.
