ハイキング
Fantastically located market square, framed by historic half-timbered houses. Very nice bistros and cafes invite you to linger.

Here you are in the center of the old town of Heppenheim. All around you can see the half-timbered houses that were built after the big city fire in 1693. Quite a cozy atmosphere for a short break. Right on the market square you will find small, nice cafés as well as the ice cream parlor Coccola, which is said to have very good ice cream (also in vegan versions).

As archaeological finds show, the Heppenheim area has been inhabited by people since the Neolithic Age. The first documented mention of the city and its St. Peter church comes from the year 755 and is passed down through the Lorsch Codex. Since 773 the place and the entire Mark Heppenheim belonged to the numerous possessions of the imperial abbey of Lorsch.
