After the black loop deviates from the other routes, the trail becomes decidedly less well maintained. A couple miles featured what was literally running through briar that has grown into the trail to the extent that I got cut on thorns several times. I ended up bailing on the route when I got to Mill Run Road, and just jogging back to the parking lot from there. The first several miles of the trail/run were beautiful, but - this is a tough “run” at best, and you should only do it if you’re looking for a really remote (I didn’t see a single other person, which was mostly great) and unmaintained hike.
