This cave is an absolute must for young and old. The tenants of the cave go to a lot of trouble with the tours and the hospitality. I have seldom experienced such a small, interesting tour of a cave. Really great!

The Unicorn Cave is located on the Karst Hiking Trail near Scharzfeld in the Harz Mountains and was first mentioned in 1541. It was made famous by the bones and tooth finds of various extinct species that were attributed to the fabled unicorn. The Einhornhöhle can be entered via an artificial tunnel, there is a restaurant on the spot and the stamping point 101 of the Harzer hiking nobility.

The Unicorn Cave is stamp HWN 101 of the Harzer Wanderadel. The nearest post office HWN 151 is less than 2 km away, the remains of Scharzfels Castle.

The Einhornhöhle is a karst cave in the Zechstein dolomite. It is located near Scharzfeld in the unincorporated Harz region of the Göttingen district of Lower Saxony. The cave is the largest visitor cave in the western part of the Harz.
It is designated as a natural monument and was added to the list of 77 important national geotopes in 2006 as part of the Zechstein karst landscape in the southern Harz. Since 2017, the Einhornhöhle has been part of the UNESCO Geopark and an official information center.

The Unicorn Cave is almost 700 meters long, of which around 300 meters are shown on the guided tours.

The cave was first mentioned in a document in 1541. Initially, it was also referred to as the "Zwergenloch", "Quergeloch" or "Scharzfeldische Höhle". Ultimately, the finds of bones and teeth, which were assigned to the legendary mythical creature of the unicorn, gave the unicorn cave its name.
