This is a small local road, about 10km transition from the main highway 27 towards Te Kauwhata. there is about 8km of gravel, generally in good condition, with only a couple of isolated rutted corners. Rideable on a touring bike, 28mm road tires will be fine, just take it easy on the descent. There are great views looking out across the Hauraki Plain and the Kopuatai Peat Dome towards Te Aroha.
