Quiet, tranquil little Baltic port! The best thing to do at sunset in summer is to sit on the stone jetty at the harbor and stay there!
The island can otherwise be easily explored by bike on a day! There are also interesting hiking trails on the steep coast (up in the forest and down by the water) south of Timmendorf!

The Timmendorf/Poel sea rescue station of the German Sea Rescue Association (DGzRS) is located on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the island of Poel. The DGzRS has stationed the Wolfgang Wiese sea rescue boat (SRB) for the volunteer sea rescuers at the pilot bridge in the port of Timmendorf. This secures the area in the Bay of Lübeck with the Bay of Wismar as far as Boltenhagen on the Klützer Winkel in the west. To the northeast, the area extends as far as Rerik on the Wustrow peninsula with the Salzhaff lying behind it.
