The name IJzeren Man refers to the former iron mining on the Veluwe. The iron ore layer was traced in the soil using a prod. It was then dug up, beaten into small pieces, and washed to rinse off the sand. The lumps of iron ore were melted in an oven, which separated the raw iron from the residual material.
Unfortunately, due to global warming, there is little water to be found. Nevertheless, a location worth mentioning because it contains traces of an economic history.
