Discover the beautiful museum palace and the impressive state parliament building in Schwerin! The palace has been largely preserved in its original state, both inside and out. Although some interior rooms in the Burgsee wing were lost in a fire in 1913, you can admire the impressive wall decorations in the apartments of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess. The imposing throne room and the grand ducal apartments, furnished with contemporary paintings and handicrafts, invite you to experience the atmosphere of the 19th century. A diverse range of educational offerings ensures that the visit is a lasting experience for art and history enthusiasts, as well as for children. The palace is also a vibrant political center, where the parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has met since 1990. The palace gardens, with their baroque garden parterre, are an idyllic place for strolls year-round. Here you will find an orangery, a grotto, and a picturesque colonnaded courtyard. The tranquil paths, designed by Peter Joseph Lenné in the 19th century, attract thousands of visitors every year. You can enjoy a well-deserved break in the octagonal pavilion, which also serves as a restaurant.
