Its history takes us back to the time of Venetian domination and is linked to the figure of an important family from Polcenigo but originally from Alpago: in the mid-1600s Simone Fullini built an “Orsoglio alla bolognese”, a cutting-edge system for twisting yarns equipped with a hydraulic wheel, probably near the Dardago square, in front of the elementary school building. To operate the system, water was captured from the Artugna springs; a petition to the Provveditori Sopra li Beni Inculti in Venice was drawn up in 1669 to obtain authorization. The request was granted and, in a short time, the water conduit that is the current Ruial was built – initially in wood and then fitted with much more resistant U-shaped stone blocks. Its length was approximately 2500 meters.
