The sea quarter
Sjökvarteret in Mariehamn is a lively maritime environment where several sailing ships have their home port. The place is popular with both Ålanders and tourists and is located in Österhamn, within walking distance of the center of Mariehamn.

In Sjökvarteret there are both boat building, blacksmithing and other crafts, as well as a museum and restaurant.

An exhibition of historic utility boats can be found in Båken, a copy of the lighthouse that once stood at Kobba Klintar's pilothouse. The new Marine Engine Museum is also located here since 2012. At the far end of the breakwater, you will find the Sailor's Chapel, which has become a popular place, for example for baptisms and weddings. There is also a museum shop in the neighborhood.
