When in 1895 the new line over Blankenloch to Karlsruhe was opened, the old route fell into the offside and was henceforth under the name "Hardtbahn" operated as a branch line. Since this route was one of the first railway lines and the Baden State Railway chose a different gauge than usual today, the track was dismantled and is now partially no longer used. The tracks are still clearly visible.
