The statue was designed by Hans Jouta from Ferwert. It depicts the route of the Eleven Cities Cycling Tour, with a few cyclists on the route at the top keeping each other out of the wind. The route is a kind of figure eight and a heart has been placed in the heart of the statue at the location of Bolsward. The Frisian symbol 'it pompeblêd' can also be seen in it. This symbolizes that Bolsward is the 'heart of the Frisian eleven cities'.
