THE INNER PORT
After the 1930s, the development of fishing brought enormous changes to the port: the deepening of the current fishing port and the construction of the Aiguillon and Carnot quays. A huge fish auction hall was demolished in 1937 to replace the hall at La Crox. •
After the occupation, the modernized fishing port experienced a real boom. First, tuna fishing, then trawling, gained importance, and within a few years it became one of France's most important ports for landing fresh fish.
At the end of the Carnot quay, a new fish auction hall was built according to European standards. The quality of the products required careful processing, and therefore functionality was given priority. Concarneau is now one of the most successful ports in France.
The daily comings and goings of coastal fishermen bring the waters near the pool to life.
