"Biały Gościniec" is the official name of the place, which has been visible on the maps of Śrem and Środa Poviats for over a hundred years. On the Kreis Schrimm map from 1914 it is marked as "Weißer Krug". Krug in German means not only a jug, but also an inn, and this was also the function of the buildings. Where does an inn come from in such a remote area? This is explained by the abbreviation "W.F." on the above-mentioned map, i.e. Wagenfähre - the place of a ferry crossing over the Warta River for horse-drawn carriages, which existed here already during the Prussian partition, certainly also in the interwar period. You can find old photos of buildings on the Internet; the one from 1930 shows the Polish sign "Biały Gościniec" with the name of the owner - Władysław Skrzypczak. The black and white photo shows a group of eight people, perhaps the owner's family, perhaps the inn's guests.
