The sanctuary is located about one kilometer from Palazzuolo sul Senio, in the hamlet of Quadalto, on the road that leads to the Sambuca pass, near the confluence of the Senio river and the Lozzole stream. The current building is the fruit of Marian devotion which, in this place, has been handed down over the centuries. Already in 1400 there was a small pillar with a small image of the Madonna, venerated by wayfarers as protector from the dangers of the mountains. In 1459, the faithful built, in place of the tabernacle, a small building, without an altar, intended for prayer, an oratory, which was given the name of Madonna della Neve. The transformation of the oratory into a chapel dates back to 1600. It is said that it was then that on the river bank, under the church, the image of the Madonna was found, painted on a stone, which was brought to the main altar of the chapel .
