Basomtso or Basomgcuo (巴松措) is a lake in Tibet at an altitude of approximately 3500m. The lake and its surrounding is sacred to the Ningma School of Tibetan Buddhism. A small monastery is located on Huxin Island in the lake.
The lake boasts with a wonderful azure color, magnificent landscape and amazing views.
A visit is only possible with a tourist entrance ticket. Foreigners also first need to check in at the local police station with their passport and special Alien Travel Permit.
A shuttle bus will take tourists from the main entrance to the Huxin Island stop.
Walks are possible along the lake on a boardwalk, or up to a viewing platform, to the monastery, or you can choose a boat tour.
