The Damse Vaart the old canal to Bruges, beautifully situated in an avenue. You expect a ferry that you have to serve yourself. In the hinterland beautiful side streets and the village Oostkerke invites you to linger. Suddenly the castle of Oostkerke appears. Also Damme is a great place, who knows the Flemish Til Ulenspiegel will feel transported back to the 16th century. And should visit the museum next to the town hall. In the Maria-Himmel-Fahrtkirche the last piece of a miracle-working cross can be found. It was brought to Damme around 1300 by Fischer from the sea.
