The cycle route in the dunes near Westenschouwen leads through one of the most beautiful landscapes in Zeeland. The route runs through the Boswachterij Westerschouwen, the largest forest in the region, which was created on sandy dunes in the 1920s to prevent erosion. Today, the forest is a mix of pine and deciduous trees and offers diverse flora and fauna, including birds of prey, fallow deer and even wild Shetland ponies.

The cycle route is known for its hilly dune landscape, sand drifts and picturesque valleys. There are many well-maintained paths that lead through the forests and over the dunes, offering fantastic views of the North Sea and the nearby beaches. The routes are suitable for cyclists of all levels and offer various entry points and shortcuts.

A highlight is the proximity to the Oosterschelde and the impressive storm surge barrier. The route makes it possible to experience the unique coastal landscape and the protection projects against the sea up close. There are also numerous places to stop for refreshments along the way, including beach pavilions and cafés.
