Greek sources indicate that Aspendos was founded in the 12th century BC by settlers from Argos. One of the founding fathers is the seer Mopsos. This was also worshiped in many other ancient cities of Turkey as a city father.
Aspendos is divided into two parts. For one, there is the "lower" Aspendos on the river and the "upper" Aspendos (Acropolis) on the hill above the theater.
Altogether, the settlement area of Aspendos comprised 20 hectares.
The entrance is just over 5 €. However, this is only payable by Lira or credit card.
Aspendos is actually known for its relatively well-preserved theater. This is also the real crowd puller. Equally interesting is the city, which stretches above the theater and whose ruins tell of the size of the Roman Aspendos. Interesting also the remnants of technical achievements, which one finds here, but much better still in Perge,: old water pipes, sewage system, Nymphäum ... And due city plant in itself.
