Don't miss a visit to the town square in Steyr, as it is one of the best-preserved old town ensembles in the German-speaking world. It has been around since the 13th century and you will find many places to stop for refreshments and soak up the atmosphere.

The town hall also houses the tourist information office. The town square is also an inviting place to stop off at one of the refreshment stations in summer.

The town square in Steyr forms the historical heart of the city and is one of Upper Austria's most striking squares. Its elongated shape is bordered on both sides by closely packed townhouses representing different architectural periods from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.

Characteristic of the square is its diverse facade design, ranging from Gothic structures through Renaissance and Baroque forms to Neoclassical elements. At the southern end of the square stands the town hall, a prominent building with Baroque and early Neoclassical features. Overall, the town square presents a cohesive historical appearance and serves as the central point of reference for urban orientation, events, and access to the old town.
