The Kookaburra Memorial in Alice Springs is open daily and admission is free.
It is dedicated to the memory of Keith Anderson and Bob Hitchcock, who died after their plane, the 'Kookaburra', made an emergency landing in the Tanami Desert on 10 April 1929 while searching for Charles Kingsford Smith and Charles Ulm.
The wreckage was found a fortnight later and remained abandoned until 1978, when it was recovered by aviator and adventurer Dick Smith.
The remains of Kookaburra were put on display at the memorial in 1982.
